Wii 2: Nintendo plotting "surprise"

Ninty chief says he won't release details because he fears new console will be ripped off.

Nintendo is “studying and developing the next console to Wii,” according to main man Satoru Iwata. But it’s keeping schtum because it doesn’t want rivals nicking its ideas.

Speaking to investors in Japan, Iwata said, “"I am afraid to say that the history of entertainment is also the history of imitation. A great idea will promptly be copied unless protected through patents.”

Iwata said he wanted to create the element of surprise around the next-gen Wii, which will have to step up its game to compete with new copycats PS3 Move and Xbox 360 Kinect round the corner.

Saying he could not tell Ninty’s backers, “…what, when and how,” the new Wii would be released, Iwata was in no mood to speculate. But in making such a statement, he’s got the gossip mongers chattering about what to expect from the Wii 2.

Yeah there probably trying to move on to the next thing so they can keep a mile ahead of sony and microsoft

if nintendo really wanted to, they could have beat the rivals easily. but instead they took a route which made them financially stable and helped introduce many many people to the video game world. so instead of going next gen immediately, they gave themselves the advantage over the other companies making it very probable that they will outsell and stay miles ahead of the rivals.

Yeah what there doing is going for a new market so they get the full <insert innovation here> market space, while sony and microsoft jump on motion controls and share the market its a brilliant stratagy

microsoft and sony are so excited about the fact that they were finally able to copy nintendo, they didnt realized that nintendo meanwhile is getting ahead of the game. they said they have a new idea that they will prevent the rivals from copying. sounds exciting

I wonder what it could be, i know sony patented a system (a few years ago) of using ultrasound to mess with brain wave to add sences to the game, which they can do as it has been done by a university (i cant remember which one), that will beat the Wii as sony would be able to brain wash us all into buying there products thus giving them total control of us and finally taking over the world.

i hate patents that developers make before making the tech, because it stops people from trying to make the tech thus slowing technological progression

i hate the fact that they have to paten it why cant they just come up with their own ideas like nintendo?

maybe the surprise will be a super wii motion infinity plus which most of the nerds in the world will be fascinated by and will give their life savings for it. (cheesh there's already a motion plus in the world)

Nintendo revolution is a bit too long, i mean playstation 3 isnt as long as nintendo revolution. And will it be a revolution, all sony and microsoft will do is copy the technology.
