How alike are the wii and the 3ds?

I can only think the similarities lie with processing power, other than that they're completly different.

What about innovation, and motion controls? and the fact that they were/are going to be really understocked and over sold and people will pay £1,000's for them

Yes but it's all in a held-held experience - playing the Wii with it's motion controls will be completly different than the 3DS, the other points, although true, aren't really a direct comparison of the physical units.

also take in consideration of the games. like animal crossing it looks like they`re making some kind of miis for the 3ds

while gaming with the wii it would be useful if we could play with0ut the controls, just like on the 3ds. And a bit like the microsoft kinect for the xbox 360

The 3DS does have controls, well buttons etc, and kinect is really limeted until they incorperate a controllers too

actually processing power is supposed to be totally different but what is similar is the look of the controls. it is very similar to the wii remote

This topic is a bit wiered, other than the tilt sensors this is like comparing a GBA to the GameCube, no wait none of those had motion controls so it is the same as comparing GBA and GC, or GBC and N64, or GB and SNES, or DS and Wii??? ah so its more like comparing DS to GC, GBA to N64, GBC to snes and GB to NES, now what kind of logic is this????

not really. This topic can help people know how similar the wii and 3ds are to each other.

Two totally different designs with strengths and weaknesses in different areas.

Well you know whats similar. they were both made by Nintendo.
