Review r4i save dongle

New postby samed » Thu Jan 05, 2012 8:38 pm

Hi,

I got a free save dongle, it arrived three days ago, so here is my review, I hope is post in a correct place.

First i don't want to other people think that i'm making advertising (rule number two: No links advertising other sites or businesses, unless authorized by our management team.) this is a true review from my point of view, and this is not piracy either is just a way to make a backup of your 3ds games before you share with others and could damage your save data.

Well since I'm from Colombia the device arrived so much late that I would expect but it arrives ant very well packed.
The save dongle is big if you compare with a usb stick, but the size is the correct if you want to allow the device to accept the cartridge, is perfect for this.

A problem is that the device arrives with any software, the firmware and programs to running in the pc has to be download from the web page. But this is not a huge problem, even more when this devices is still in firmware test, correcting some problem and fixing some issues with some games (in the restore an backing up the games), so the firmware or software would end up outdated if it arrives with the save dongle, the best option is download it from the web page.

Ok, when you install everything the interface is so easy to use, is like, if you want to backup some save just click on card to pc (with the cartridge on the device) and if you want to restore a save is just click on the pc to card button.

Some games had problems and example is the pokemon games but with the latest firmware this problem were solved.

In the box they state the future possibility to decrypt and modify and encrypt the save to change things on the backups and allow this to work on the game, this is a future option because this hasn't been implemented yet, but is still a future option.

The web page also has a data base page with the backups save upload for the users, it has more than 100 different games to download, this is a chance to see all parts of the games if you don't want to get the 100% or you just can't to do it.

I would give it a 8/10

this is because the total functionality that they company state on the box (when the firmware update came, this i hope would be solved)
And because the many steps to install it, later is easy to use but the installation part should be just one file with everything and not like three different files.

This is mi opinion, if you want to backup the save or in a future modify thing on the games, this is a good option if the company upgrade the firmware with the option to allow this kind of things.
